The Wishing Well in Gartness was assessed today by Melanie and what a beautiful day for a drive through stunning countryside. This lovely place it seems is in the middle of nowhere except rolling hills and rivers but once you arrive its a bustling eaterie with an adjoined gift shop .
The tables and decor are very farmhouse style and comfortable.The waiting staff were attentive without being intrusive.
I had a lovely homemade crepe and one of the nicest and freshest salads i have ever tasted. The Homebaking was set out on a table to view on entering the restuarant so i knew exactly what i wanted. Unfortunately my arrival was unannounced so no sample cakes were offered ,but being me i purchased 5 and my friend had a normal "one." Every single cake sampled was excellent Homebaking and fresh fresh fresh!! My friend had a warm Homemade scone with jam and cream and this also could not be faulted.All in all a great place to sample excellent Homebaking and browse some unusual gifts for friends or family. Well done

Fiona Browns Home baking can be sourced from most of the Farmers markets in the area but i found Fiona at the Loch Lomond shores farmers market that appears twice a month on a sunday.
Fiona started her Homebaking business in 1983 and uses only fresh ingredients including free range eggs.All her baking is neatly and cleanly presented and is not badly priced for the quality recieved .My son towards the end of the day sampled the caramel shortcake and the carrot cake and both were exceptional Homebaking. With all the furore over homebaking bans this year by certain councils it was encouraging to see fionas certificates on display. Long live this type of baking as its what our country grew up on, but sadly a dying art today.

This establishment was hidden away in a woodlands area just off the Drymen road.On entering, a wave of calmness and serenity takes over and you are transported into a beautiful olde worlde courtyard with shops ,holistic therapys and the best of all - A Coffee shop. This is a vegetarian shop but i was only interested in the baking and it was truly scrumptious.All made on the premises and the Carrot cake was heaven . The scones were light and airy .This is a small outlet but worth the visit if even for the air of calm that surrounds you when you enter. Well done !!

This seemed to be a very popular choice in the area for a good lunch and the Homebaking on offer was superb.The young staff were very friendly and helpful and could explain all the baking on display easily. A very busy shop and a few other outlets in the surrounding area make this place well worth a vist. The assessor didnt manage to sample any baking on offer this visit but felt on assessment worthy of our Award. The Aizle ,Ballat crossroads,Balfron G63 OSE

I personally assessed The Aizle this weekend 18/06/11and tried a few cakes which were not sampled at the previous assessors trip. I was disappointed with the quality of the Apple tart but the lemon drizzle was nice. I look forward to re-assessing next year
