edinburgh

Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland, the second largest city in Scotland after Glasgow and the seventh-most populous in the United Kingdom.

Edinburgh is well-known for the annual Edinburgh Festival, a collection of official and independent festivals held annually over about four weeks from early August. The number of visitors attracted to Edinburgh for the Festival is roughly equal to the settled population of the city. The most famous of these events are the Edinburgh Fringe (the largest performing arts festival in the world), the Edinburgh International Festival, the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, and the Edinburgh International Book Festival. Other events include the Hogmanay street party (31 December), Burns Night (25 January) and the Beltane Fire Festival (30 April).

MANNA HOUSE
Nominated today by our senior assessor whilst visiting friends in Edinburgh . This little Coffee house/ Bakery is tucked away off the beaten track in Edinburgh but wow was it worth the find tells our senior assessor Catherine. The shop allows you direct viewing of the bakery and all the tempting and delicious cakes are homemade on the premises. The staff were attentive and friendly and the cakes we are told were some of the best Catherine had sampled to date . Fresh flowers on the tables and clean and tidy throughout .What a great unexpected find in Edinburgh this week. Well done all at Manna House bakery.

Loopy Lornas Tea House
The first of Loopy Lornas Tea Houses is situated in Morningside road and the recently opened second premises is at Churchhill Theatre both on Morningside Road..Our assessor today was our senior assessor and she visited the original Loopys at lunch time. A quite extraordinary Tea House with a well branded and well executed theme.Everything in pink and black with tea cosys on the teapots and hand painted wallpaper .Just how you would like a cake shop to look. Candles were lit on all the tables and beautiful pictures adorning the walls. The tea was excuisite and the array of cakes was breathtaking . The slices of cake were huge and warranted the price. All in all a heartwarming story behind the idea .One observation was that it needed the input of the owner and then the original idea had not just been created but was also being enjoyed which in turn injects the heart and soul.
