Glen Coe...

glencoe

Glen Coe is a glen in the Highlands of Scotland. It lies in the southern part of the Lochaber committee area of Highland Council, and was formerly part of the county of Argyll. It is often considered one of the most spectacular and beautiful places in Scotland, and is a part of the designated National Scenic Area of Ben Nevis and Glen Coe. The narrow glen shows a grim grandeur. The glen, approaching from the east on the main A82 road, is surrounded by wild and precipitous mountains. Further west at Invercoe, the landscape has a softer beauty before the main entrance to the glen. The main settlement is the village of Glencoe.

For those who are intending to visit Scotland for the first time then Glencoe is a must. Some of the most tragic events in Scottish history unfolded here and the atmosphere is still mysteriously eerie. There are no less than eight Munros in Glencoe alone which gives this very special place its chilling edge . Anyway back to the Homebaking and the Visitor centre makes all its own and the shortbread and the scones were tested by our assessor who had to share them with some beautiful little wild birds that were flying free within this large and airy coffee shop. Not a problem !! Glencoe visitor centre has a full days worth of things to see and do and even has its Green tourism Gold Award . A must for all when in this area of Scotland.
