The Highlands and Islands of Scotland are broadly the Scottish Highlands plus Orkney, Shetland and the Hebrides.

The Highlands and Islands are sometimes defined as the area to which the Crofters' Act of 1886 applied. This area consisted of the areas of seven of the counties of Scotland:

• Argyll
• Inverness-shire
• Ross and Cromarty
• Sutherland
• Caithness
• Orkney
• Shetland

Hebrides Art

Driving through the Isle of Harris today we stopped at this idyllic location on Harris.A lovely clean ,fresh Art Gallery with a coffee shop attached . Some beautiful locally made crafts were available to look at and purchase .The jewellery was outstanding as was the iced cake we both had .No display of cakes were on show as the emphasis was on the crafts etc but what we had was fresh and well made. A very pleasant find this Gallery was so well done Hebridean Art.
